Karnataka Schools Latest News: The Karnataka government has suspended classes 6 to 9 in Bengaluru urban district form 1 April. The decision was announced on Thursday with directions to implement it with immediate effect. The recent surge in the number of coronavirus cases all over the country is compelling the respective state governments to take the necessary actions for containing the disease. Though the physical classes have been suspended from classes 6 to 9, the offline classes will continue for class 10 students.

"Keeping in view the increasing COVID cases, the physical classes for standard six to nine has been stopped with immediate effect till the next order," Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said and PTI reported. He further added that the decision to suspend classes from 6 to 9 standards have been taken in view of the health of students belonging to this age group.
Regarding the exams for classes 6 to 9, the Minister stated that directions on conducting the exams for these classes will be issued later.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck the country a year ago, a nation-wide lockdown was imposed to contain the disease. The schools and other educational institutions were closed down and the students had to rely on online classes for their education. In Karnataka, the physical classes resumed from January 1, 2021.
Though schools in several states were reopened as situation normalised a bit, the recent rise in the number of coronavirus cases have compelled the respective state governments to impose measures for curbing the spread of the disease.
In Uttar Pradesh, the state government had extended the closure of the schools up to class 8 till April 4. Also, the Punjab government has ordered that the schools and colleges in the state to remain shut till April 10, 2021. Chhattisgarh Minister Ravindra Choubey on March 21, 2021 informed that schools, colleges and Anganwadis will be closed in the state due to the massive rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
