The JEE Main qualifying cut of marks and NTA percentile score of the candidate will be reflected in the JEE Main 2021 result.
As the JEE Main February 2021, B. Arch and B. Planning first session has been conducted in multi-shifts, NTA scores will be calculated corresponding to the raw marks obtained by a candidate.
The NTA follows a standardized procedure to grade each candidate which is based on the percentile score. This is done as the NTA conducts the JEE Main exams in multiple shifts and the levels of difficulty also vary. So, the natural query for many in this case is that how can the ranks of two candidates vary when both of them get the same score.
Here is the process that explains how the rank of a candidate is determined when two candidates get the same score in the JEE Main exam. The JEE Main exam focuses on three subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. There are multiple choice questions (MCQ) for these subjects with each question carrying four option. There is also negative marking for every wrong answer.
If two candidates score the same marks, the NTA uses the following methods to determine their rank:
1) When two candidates score the same, the candidate having a higher percentile in Mathematics is preferred
2) If the scores of the candidates are also same in Mathematics, the candidate with a higher percentile in Physics is preferred
3) Again, if the scores are same for the candidates, then the candidate with a higher percentile in Chemistry is preferred
4) In case where the scores are tied for the candidates in all of the cases, the older candidate is preferred
The JEE Main 2021 February session exam was conducted by NTA from February 23 to 26. The JEE Main 2021 results for the February session have also been declared and is currently available on the website at https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/
