The students who are studying in CBSE affiliated schools and appearing for the Class 10 and Class 12 exams for the first time are regular candidates. On the other hand, private candidates are those who were regular students of CBSE earlier and failed to qualify in the first or the second attempt and want to sit for an improvement exam or in an additional subject. Also, some candidates are private candidates from Delhi who are allowed to sit for the CBSE board exams like Patrachar and female candidates.
For the regular candidates, the CBSE prepared the results on the basis of the exams conducted by the schools. However, in case of the private candidates, the desired records are not available with the schools or CBSE. The CBSE has discussed this issue with the Supreme Court and it has been decided to conduct written exams for the private candidates.
