Fog Alert: Delhi airport issues advisory as visibility drops due to dense fog
As thick fog shrouded the national capital on Tuesday, the Delhi airport has issued an advisory for travelers flying out of the city. The airport advised travelers to contact their specific airlines to make sure they are informed of any updates regarding the change in schedule. To maintain safe operations amid the current heavy fog, the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi has begun adhering to Low Visibility Procedures (LVP), it added.
“Due to dense fog, flight operations at Delhi airport may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. Any inconvenience is deeply regretted," Indira Gandhi International Airport said in a tweet.

Just before that, the airport issued another advisory stating - "Low Visibility Procedures are in progress at Delhi Airport. All flight operations are presently normal. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information."

Moreover, low-cost domestic airline IndiGo in a tweet wrote that flights from Delhi to Agartala, Chandigarh, Varanasi, Deogarh, Darbhanga, Pantnagar, Dehradun, Ranchi, and Kanpur may be impacted by the inclement weather.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast fog for the next few days, with dense fog expected on Wednesday.
"Dense to very dense fog and cold wave conditions very likely to continue over plains of northwest India including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during next 5 days," Indian Meteorological Department said.
With dropping visibility and affecting vehicular movement on roads, the minimum temperature of the national capital on Tuesday morning settled at 8.5 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity at 8:30 am stood at 85 percent.
On Monday, the minimum temperature had settled at 7.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature had stood at 17.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded at 383 at 9 am.
An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".
