Delhi Weather: Dense fog disrupts operations at IGI airport, zero visibility and CAT III conditions persist

Delhi Weather: Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) is experiencing severe weather disruptions as very dense fog has led to zero visibility and CAT III conditions since late last night. The fog, which began at 11:30 PM yesterday, has continued into this morning, with general visibility still at zero meters as of 7 AM. 

The Runway Visual Range (RVR) across all runways remains critically low, ranging from just 100 to 250 meters, severely limiting airport operations. CAT III conditions, which allow for low-visibility landings, are in effect, but these conditions are making flight movements challenging. 

As of 9 AM IST, there has been a slight improvement in visibility, with Palam at 50 meters and Safdurjung at 100 meters. However, the fog has already impacted approximately 150 flights, with 136 delayed and 33 cancelled. 

"While landing and takeoffs continue at Delhi airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted," the Delhi International Airport Limited, which operates the airport, said in a post on X at 6:56 am.
