Now, food delivery to wherever you are possible with UberEATS
The differentiating factor in UberEATS among other competitors in this space has to be the customised drop-off feature.
How many times have you, stuck in a long-winding traffic jam, thought of a service that delivered you food in the middle of that highway? In theory, UberEATS has just made this into a reality.
The differentiating factor in UberEATS among other competitors in this space has to be the customised drop-off feature. This enables a person to receive a delivery standing at a particular spot or if you are relaxing on the promenade in Mumbai.
The company which launched its food delivery service in Mumbai on Tuesday, which marks the entry of a new Uber service into the country, taking the service the 26 countries in total.
“Expanding delivery to more places in India, customize drop-off feature gives more choice and convenience to consumers. Now consumers can get food delivered with ease and convenience no matter where they are by choosing specific information about delivery location. Some of the places getting added to UberEATS delivery are hospitals, parks and office buildings,” said the company in its release.
The company does this as the app takes the exact location of the person and also gives them options regarding where they want to deliver it. For instance, the company demonstrated that a person could choose for it to be delivered next to a certain landmark on a road, to have the delivery person wait at the bottom of the building where they can pick it up, etc.
Another feature which is different is the scheduled orders which allows people to place an order before hand and then have it delivered at a particular time. So that the delivery is there at the time you want it.
UberEATS has launched in Mumbai in partnership with more than 200 restaurants. It has also partnered with delivery partners for UberEATS.
The way they do the customised drop-offs is through their guided pick-ups for their delivery partners. UberEATS has built in step-by-step pick-up instruction functionality, wherein Uber's delivery-partner app gathers granular pick-up information for even the most difficult-to-navigate restaurants, share that with delivery partners so thaty can quickly locate the order as well as deliver it on time, said the company.
Currently, UberEATS that they are charging a Rs 15 delivery fee, inclusive of taxes on the food ordered and will not have a minimum order size.
The delivery charges are also much lesser than that of competitors such as Swiggy's which charges Rs 30 as delivery charges and an additional Rs 25 as packing charges on orders.
Other features such as live tracking of the food delivery are already available with competitors such as Swiggy's. Even smart curation and customisation has been seen with other food delivery apps.
