Exclusive: In chat with Anil Singhvi, TTK Prestige MD Chandru Kalro talks about 2021 outlook and CHINA factor

In today’s edition of News Par Views show, Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi spoke to Chandru Kalro, Managing Director (MD) of TTK Prestige. The company which started operations in 1955 is now a leader in the kitchenware segment. It is also a market leader in the pressure cooker segment.  (#NewsParViews). 

The demand situation has gone up amid the lockdown over the past 8-9 months, Kalro said. On the outlook for this segment, Kalro said that there are certain habits that will stay with people even as the pandemic situation improves further and people come out of their homes.

The people have started focusing on their eating habits and home cooked food which has given a lot of emphasis on how the food is cooked. He expected the next financial year to be great for TTK Prestige. 

He further said that the economy is now recovering well and there is liquidity in the markets.  

On China Factor 

The MD said that TTK Prestige was the first company to assess the development around China and decided to bring the production back to India. Though that has created problems, the company is proud of this move, he added. The decision to bring back the entire supply chain augurs well for TTK Prestige, he further said. The company will only become stronger from this decision.  

Road Ahead in 2021 

TTK Prestige is working towards increasing its capital expenditure, he said. The demand for kitchenware has not only grown in India but globally. As China’s relations with other countries have been deteriorating, this increases the export opportunities for the company, he said. This would require more capex, going forward. 

New Products 

TTK Prestige will be introducing new products in the core categories that includes pressure cooker, chimney, mixer grinder, Kalro said.
