There is a new entrant in the driverless car race! While we have read tons of news about Google driverless car project, the latest comes from an Indian carmaker. Tata Motors' European Technical Centre has successfully tested driverless cars. Tata Motors had started testing the driverless car three years ago. Interestingly, for testing, Tata Motors' popular SUV Hexa was used, Zee Business TV reports. Tata Motors has said that traffic jams, vehicular pollution and road safety are serious concerns for India. The company, hence, wants to introduce such cars that can be driven without a driver as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Google driverless car project, which was in advanced stage of testing for a long time, seems ready for commercial operations. Financial Times reported yesterday that Waymo, the driverless car company and a subsidiary of Google's parent company Alphabet, has started charging passengers in Arizona for rides in its autonomous cars. Waymo has become the first self-driving car developer to start commercial services.

Tata Motors on Friday made strong bid to tap the 'white-space' of racing cars in association with a Tamil Nadu firm, under which they have launched the 'accessible performance' variants of Tiago and Tigor.
The new variants have been branded as Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP. The cars have been built at Tata Motors' Sanand plant with engineering and technical partnership with Jayem Automotives, which has recalibrated the engines to enhance the output and performance.
Bookings for the new cars are open now and deliveries begin next month. They come with an introductory price tag of Rs 6.39 lakh for the hatchback Tiago JTP and Rs 7.49 lakh for sedan Tigor JTP (both ex-showroom, New Delhi). In comparison, the top-end Tiago comes at Rs 5.5 lakh and the top model of the Tigor carries a price tag of Rs 6.5 lakh, the company said.
