Nissan has introduced the X-Trail SUV to the Indian market, priced at Rs 49.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This three-row SUV is being imported as a fully built unit. Along with the vehicle, Nissan is providing a standard 3-year/1 lakh km warranty and three years of free roadside assistance.
Powertrain and Specifications
The Nissan X-Trail is equipped with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, coupled with a 12V mild-hybrid system, generating 163hp and 300Nm of torque. The powertrain is mated to a shift-by-wire CVT automatic gearbox, designed to minimise the rubberband effect. The SUV features Nissan’s variable compression technology, which adjusts the compression ratio to balance performance and fuel efficiency as needed.
Features and Safety
The X-Trail boasts a host of features, including a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a wireless smartphone charger, keyless entry and go, drive modes, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, and cruise control. It offers a 7-seater configuration as standard. The second row includes 40/20/40 split-folding, sliding, and reclining functions, while the third row features 50/50 split-folding and reclining functions.
In terms of safety, the X-Trail comes with seven airbags, automatic wipers, ABS with EBD, traction control, a limited-slip differential, hill-start assist, and front parking sensors.
Competition
The Nissan X-Trail will compete with premium 7-seater SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and MG Gloster. The Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster are expected to receive facelifts later this year, while the Skoda Kodiaq will undergo a generational update in 2025.
