Maruti Suzuki car sales August 2021: Total sales surge 4.6% to 130,699 units; vehicle production likely to hit in Sept

Maruti Suzuki car sales August 2021: Maruti Suzuki India Limited posted total sales of 130,699 units in August 2021. Total sales in the month include domestic sales of 105,775 units, sales to other OEMs of 4,305 units, and exports of 20,619 units.

The sales volume of the Maruti Suzuki India in August 2021 was affected due to the electronic components shortage. The company took all possible measures to limit the adverse impact, Maruti has informed.

While the sales volume in August 2021 was affected due to electronic components shortage, the sales volume in August 2020 was impacted due to COVID-19 related disruptions.

Maruti Suzuki's mini passenger vehicles sales, which include models such as Alto, S-Presso, in August 2021 stood at 20,461 units, compared to 19,709 units in the corresponding month last year, the company announced.

The sales of compact passenger vehicles including models such as WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S, stood at 45,577 units last month, against 61,956 units in the year-ago period.

Maruti’s total domestic sales, including passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles (LCV) stood at 105,775 units, compared to 115,325 units in the corresponding month last year. The total domestic passenger vehicles sold in August stood at 103,187 units, against 113,033 units in the year-ago period.

Maruti's total sales, including total domestic and original equipment manufacturers (OEM), stood at 110,080 units, compared to 116,704 units in the corresponding month last year. The total export sales in August stood at 20,619 units, against 7,920 units in the year-ago period.

The company's total sales, including domestic and export, stood at 130,699 units, compared to 124,624 units in the corresponding month last year.  

Maruti Suzuki has mentioned, “Owing to a supply constraint of electronic components due to the semiconductor shortage situation, the company is expecting an adverse impact on vehicle production in the month of September in both Haryana and its contract manufacturing company, Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) in Gujarat.”

“Though the situation is quite dynamic, it is currently estimated that the total vehicle production volume across both locations could be around 40 per cent of normal production,” it has added.
