The minister said that the green Hydrogen pilot project will be launched in a collaboration with Toyota. The car has arrived but is kept in the laboratory of Indian Oil in Faridabad. The tentative launch date is March 15-16.
3-points seat belt mandatory
Gadkari said that airbags have been included in the PLI scheme, due to which production will start in the country. In the coming time, the price of airbags will also come down. In the new initiative, 3-point seat belts have been made mandatory. He also said that the government is improving road engineering, auto engineering, and law. The road accident is a serious issue, he added.
Death toll due to road accidents is very high
The Union Minister said that about 1.5 lakh people die every year due to road accidents alone. Due to this, there is a loss of 3.14 percent in the GDP of the country.
The size of the country's automobile sector is Rs 7.5 lakh crore. The export of the Indian automobile sector is worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore. The government has decided that this figure will be increased to Rs 15 lakh crore in the next five years. He said that the auto sector in the country is the employment provider and the highest revenue-generating industry for the Central and State Governments.
Cars have to pass standard test
Gadkari said that the cars of auto companies will have to pass the standards of a testing agency 'Bharat NCAP'. In this, an independent agency will give a rating of up to one, two, three, four, and five stars to that car, according to safety. The car will also have an electronic stability control system. This avoids the risk of losing control of the vehicle on the curve (at sharp turns). The government has also taken some decisions regarding the transport of dangerous goods.
