The Dow and NASDAQ slipped 200 points on Wednesday. The Fed's commentary had put pressure on the US market. The 10-year bond yield rose above 3.6%. Alphabet's stock fell 7.5%. Google launched AI chatbot Bard to compete with ChatGPT. Fed Governor Christopher Waller said, "The fight against inflation will go on for a long time. Interest rates can remain high for a long time." Fed President John Williams said, "One or two more rate hikes are possible."

The US market gained momentum after the Fed Chairman's speech. The Dow jumped 265 points and the NASDAQ rose 2%. The 10-year bond yield reached above 3.65%. Fed has said that, ''Inflation has started declining but this is just the beginning.. Inflation has started from the goods sector.. We will decide on interest rates even further after seeing the economic figures.. If the figures deteriorate, the interest rates will have to be increased more than expected.''

On Monday, the US market slipped again amid volatility. Dow recovered 200 points from the lower level and closed down 35 points. There was sell-off in NASDAQ again and it fell 1%. Apple slipped 2% on worries about sluggish iPhone demand. The 10-year bond yield jumped beyond 3.6%. Today market will eye on the Fed Chairman's commentary. Joe Biden's second State of the Union speech will also be watched.

Profit booking was seen in the US markets on Friday. The Dow slipped 125 points. Whereas the NASDAQ fell 1.6%. Bond yield jumped to cross 3.5%. The impact on the sentiment was seen from the excellent jobs report of January. January 5.7 lakh new jobs were added, the estimate was 1.87 lakh. The unemployment rate fell from 3.6% to 3.4%.

Dow recovered 250 points on Thursday and closed down 40 points, while the NASDAQ jumped 3% to reach at 4.5 month-high. The S&P 500 rose to a five-month high as tech stocks fueled rally. META shares jumped 23% on strong results and buybacks. Alphabet's stock rose by 7.3%, Amazon rose by 7.4% and Apple by 3.7%. Non-farm employment data will come today. Apart from this, the market of Europe gained 0.5%-1%.

There was a strong rebound in the US market ahead of Fed's policy. Experts believe that the US Federal Reserve may hike interest rates by 0.25%. The Dow jumped 370 points to close at the day's high. At the same time, NASDAQ jumped 1.7% and Russell 2000 rose 2.5%. Apart from this, there was strong action in consumer stocks. Shares of General Motors jumped 8% on good results. The US Federal Reserve will announce their first decision of 2023 on Feb 1. In 2022, the central bank had raised interest rates to over 4.25% from near zero levels in its fight against stubbornly high inflation. Market participants expect Fed Chief Jerome Powell to raise the benchmark federal funds rate by 25 bps, to a target range of 4.50% to 4.75%.
On Monday, there was a break in the 6-day rally of Dow. Dow slipped 260 points to close at the day's low. Whereas, NASDAQ lost 2% due to pressure on heavyweight IT, semi-conductor stocks. Bond yields edged higher ahead of the Fed's 2-day meeting. Apart from this, the results of McDonald's, Exxon Mobil, General Motors, Pfizer will come.

Stock Market Today, Sensex, Nifty, Bank Stocks: Sensex crashed more than 1,000 points while Nifty tumbled over 300 points to trade below 17,550. All the 12 stocks in Bank Nifty traded deep in the red as the index was down by more than 1400 points. The selling pressure in all the 7 Adani Group stocks weighed on SBI, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and other banking shares.
After Wednesday's flat action, there was a strong rally in the US market yesterday. The Dow rose for the fifth consecutive day, jumped 200 points to close at the day's high. Tesla jumped 11%. The 10-year bond yield rose above 3.5%. Strong Q4 GDP figures brought action in the market. Q4 GDP rose to 2.9% from the estimate of 2.8%. Consumer spending grew 2.1% which is better than expected.
