Though the Indian Premier League 2021 was suspended recently due to Covid 19 surge, but the BCCI went ahead and has announced 20-member squad for ICC World Test Championship. The inaugural tournament will be held at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, England, where the Virat Kohli-led side will take on New Zealand from June 18. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has also announced the sqaud for the subsequent five-match Test series against England.

Ajinkya Rahane would be Virat Kohli's deputy for the World Test Championship.  In the BCCI announced 20-member squad, KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha's induction will subject to their fitness. 

The notable missouts were opener Prithvi Shaw, pacer Bhuvnehswar Kumar and all-rounder Hardik Pandya, while important additions were seamer Mohammad Mohammed Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Arzan Nagwaswalla have been kept as standby players.
