Indian women cricket team skipper Mithali Raj made news recently when she became the first woman cricketer from the country to score 10,000 international runs. Mithali who was playing her 212th ODI for India achieved this feat during the third match of the bilateral series against South Africa. Mithali is only behind England player Charlotte Edwards in terms of the overall leading run-scorer in women's international cricket.

But she achieved another incredible milestone in the India vs South Africa bilateral series. Mithali became the first woman cricketer ever to score 7,000 runs in One Day Internationals, said BCCI. BCCI congratulated the 'Magnificent Mithali' upon reaching this astonishing landmark in the women cricket arena.

The 38-year-old, who made her international debut in 1999, was also the first player to score 6,000 runs in women's ODIs. England's Charlotte Edwards, who retired from international cricket in 2016, is second the list of leading run scorers with 5,992.

Indian skipper achieved this historic milestone on Sunday during 4th ODI against South Africa Women in Lucknow.  Mithali had scored 6,974 runs in her ODI career before this match.  
Indian women cricket skipper also stands good chance even top the 10,000 International runs mark as she is only behind former England player Charlotte Edwards by less than 300 runs.
