After a long time and a lot of anticipation, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), returned to screens with its much-awaited web series 'WandaVision'. 'WandaVision' is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar in India. Five episodes of the series have been streamed so far.
The appearance of the show is reminiscent of the conventional American sitcoms. The show depicts Wanda and Vision leading their lives in a sub-urban style in the town of Westview.
The show has received criticism for being slow-paced. However, at times, certain unusual sequences left the audience in anticipation of a multiverse crossover.
According to forbes.com, after the latest episode of the MCU web-series, Wanda's motives have been brought into questions by Vision. It is Wanda's fantasy that has provoked Vision to this extent. The fifth episode further reveals that Wanda is not taking her decisions in full consciousness.
Perhaps, the greatest plot twist of this show was saved for the last scene of the latest episode. The last scene of the latest episode of 'WandaVision' shows the return of Wanda's deceased brother Pietro alias Quicksilver. Evan Peters has been casted in the role of Quicksilver.
Incidentally, Peters plays the same character for the 'X-Men' franchise by Fox.
The appearance of Peters in MCU has opened up the much-anticipated 'multiverse' theory by the Marvel fans. In MCU, the character of Quicksilver last appeared in the film 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. Aaron Taylor-Johnson played the character of Quicksilver in that movie. 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' released in 2015.
The appearance of Quicksilver in 'WandaVision' might also suggest that characters from the 'X-Men' franchise may also appear in the MCU in future.
With the absorption of Fox by Disney, there are no legal complications in featuring characters from the 'X-men' franchise, previously owned by Fox, in the MCU.
This has certainly opened a lot of interesting prospects for the future of the MCU projects. Now, it will be not surprising to see Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender in in short cameos in future MCU projects.
