Watch: President Obama reveals retirement plans for next two years
President Obama said he will stay on in Washington DC for the next two years, a practice not often followed by an outgoing President.
US President Barack Obama has revealed his “retirement plans” in a video played during his last White House Correspondents' dinner speech on Saturday night. This is the last Correspondents' dinner he will attend as the US President.
“Eight years ago, I was a young man, full of idealism and vigor. And look at me now: I am grey, grizzled, just counting down the days til my death panel,” he said.
“Meanwhile, Michelle has not aged a day. The only way you can date her in photos is by looking at me. Take a look. (Shows photo on screen of himself and Michelle in 2008 and another photo currently where he has aged). Here we are a few years later (picture of Michelle and a skeleton next to her),” Obama added.
“As for me, and Michelle, we’ve decided to stay in (Washington) DC for a couple more years. This way our youngest daughter can finish up high school,” he said.
“But our decision has actually presented a bit of a dilemma because, traditionally, presidents don’t stick around after their done. And it’s something I’ve been brooding about a little bit. Take a look,” Obama further added queuing for a video to play on his retirement plans.
