Bitcoin as salaries? Thats how Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey plans to pay developers
Bitcoin which once stood near $20,000 level before December 2017 end, has now corrected massively and is near $4,000-levels.
How would you like if your salary was paid in Bitcoins? Shocking and seems unrealistic right? But guess what! This is the new trend which awaits web developers and engineers who are looking for jobs. At first, payment service provider Square is hiring engineers for cryptocurrencies and is looking to pay them in Bitcoin. This job opportunity was revealed by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, while he was offering another set of openings in cryptocurrency market. Dorsey is also offering crypto lovers, a job where he will pay them to work full-time on Bitcoin. Dorsey has also asked interested candidates to send direct message (DM) to @SqCrypto.
Through his Twitter account, Dorsey said, “Are you currently contributing to bitcoin-core or other crypto ecosystem projects for free in your off-time? We’d like to pay you to do it full-time. If interested, DM @SqCrypto, and follow for updates on our progress. Thank you!”
Dorsey’s this job offer is because he feels, the crypto technology is deeply principled, purpose-driven, edgy and really weird. He says, “Just like the early internet! I’m excited to get to learn more directly.”
While announcing this new idea, Dorsey revealed that, Square is hiring 3-4 crypto engineers and 1 designer to work full-time on open source contributions to the bitcoin/crypto ecosystem. Work from anywhere, report directly to me, and we can even pay you in bitcoin!
“This will be Square’s first open source initiative independent of our business objectives. These folks will focus entirely on what’s best for the crypto community and individual economic empowerment, not on Square’s commercial interests. All resulting work will be open and free,” said Dorsey.
Further, Dorsey added, “Square has taken a lot from the open source community to get us here. We haven’t given enough back. This is a small way to give back, and one that’s aligned with our broader interests: a more accessible global financial system for the internet.”
That said, looks like one can actually do a job and earn in Bitcoin. But the real question is whether it is worth it.
Bitcoin which once stood near $20,000 level before December 2017 end, has now corrected massively and is near $4,000-levels. So far, in 2019, Bitcoin has been hovering between $3,000 to $4,000 mark.
