Marvel's latest superhero film, Avengers: Endgame continues to enjoy a dream run at the box office even as it enters the third week since release. The film has broken many records across the globe and has now become the second highest earning film of all-time, surpassing James Cameron's Titanic. Titanic’s lifetime collections were $2.1 billion while Endgame has raked in $2.2 billion within two weeks. The feat has been applauded by filmmaker James Cameron who ruled the box office with Titanic two decades ago. In a social media post, Cameron congratulated Kevin Feige and Marvel studios. The post included a picture of Titanic sinking into the ocean after hitting the Avenger’s logo.

"To Kevin (Feige, producer) and everyone at Marvel, an iceberg sank the real Titanic. It took the Avengers to sink my Titanic. Everyone here at Lightstorm Entertainment salutes your amazing achievement. You’ve shown that movie industry is not only alive and well, it’s bigger than ever," Cameron's post read.

The post was received well by the Marvel fans who thanked Cameron and showed support for his upcoming Avatar movies.

The post comes as surprise for many fans as Cameron has been critical of superhero movies in the past. Last year, he had said that soon people might start to get Avenger fatigue. "Not that I don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on, guys, there are other stories to tell besides, you know, hypogonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process," the Academy Award winning director had said.

He has also been critical of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman and called the character ‘an objectified icon’. In response, Jenkins had said, "James Cameron’s inability to understand what Wonder Woman is, or stands for, to women all over the world is unsurprising as, though he is a great filmmaker, he is not a woman ... I believe women can and should be EVERYTHING just like male lead characters should be. There is no right and wrong kind of powerful woman."

Meanwhile, in India, the film has collected a gargantuan Rs 326.95 crore by the end of the second week and is likely to cross the Rs 350 crore mark over the weekend. However, it will face tough competition from Student of the Year 2, which hits the theatres this Friday.
