Amazon chief Jeff Bezos says space exploration critical for human survival
Jeff Bezos envisions coming up with gigantic space colonies in order to expand humanity - up to a trillion people.
World's richest person and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos interest in space is definitely sparking global interest. Elon Musk-led SpaceX has been hogging the limelight for quite some time, but Bezos company Blur Origin is fast catching up.
In an interview with CBS News, Jeff Bezos states that he wants his company to be "an instrumental part" of return to the Moon by the US. He even stated that space exploration is critical and believes in investing in space technologies as he believes the human population is destroying Earth.
He also states that the there is a need for government's support to go back to the Moon as well in the time frame required.
Back in May, Bezos company Blue Origin unveiled the company's vision for space as well as plans for a Moon Lander. the company plans to call the latter 'Blue Moon', scheduled to be ready by 2024. The Moon lander has been in development for three years.
"I think it is important for this planet. I think it`s important for the dynamism of future generations. It is something I care deeply about," said Bezos.
The Moon Lander would not only be able to carry people to the moon but also be able to carry the rover to shoot small satellites and also execute scientific missions.
Looking further, Jeff Bezos envisions coming up with gigantic space colonies in order to expand humanity - up to a trillion people. For the program, he plans to fuel the rockets with lunar ice water and have the Moon as the base for space exploration. He also added that they wish to come up with a way to harvest oxygen and hydrogen using the Lunar ice.
