Popularly known as PF, Employee Provident Fund is a government-established retirement savings scheme for employees of the organised sector.
The scheme is established by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) in which employees of an organisation contribute a small portion of their basic pay monthly.
A UAN stands for Universal Account Number. It is a 12-digit number allotted to all eligible employees by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), and contains the details of multiple member IDs allotted to the member by different organizations.
When an employee joins the service sector for the first time, his/her employer has to generate a UAN for them. However, after this number is generated, it remains inactive until the employee activates it by visiting the official website.
Follow the steps to activate/register the UAN online:
Now you can login to your EPF account using your UAN and password.
