Buy A1 or A2 milk often?

Food safety regulator FSSAI has directed food businesses - including e-tailers - to remove claims of 'A1' and 'A2' types of milk and milk products from packaging. Catch the latest details here.

Such labelling is misleading, says FSSAI

These claims do not conform with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, according to the FSSAI, India's food regulator.

What FSSAI says

After examining the issue, the FSSAI has found that the A1 and A2 differentiation is linked to the structure of beta-casein protein in milk. Current FSSAI regulations do not recognise this differentiation.

What FSSAI says

Food business operators (FBOs) are instructed to remove such claims from their products, wrote the FSSAI in its order, dated August 21.
