FIRST TRADE: Indices open at record highs; Nifty trades above 20,100; Sensex up 250 pts

Stock market today: The domestic equity indices NSE Nifty and S&P BSE Sensex scaled fresh peaks during the opening session on Thursday, September 14, amid buying in all sectoral indices. The US Consumer Price Index data indicating a likelihood of a pause in the rate hike cycle by the Federal Reserve later this month also boosted investor sentiment.
Last seen, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 149.02 points, or 0.22 per cent at 67,616.01, and the Nifty was up 50.4 points, or 0.25 per cent at 20,120.4.
Among the Nifty 50 stocks, 43 advanced and 3 declined. Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 traded over half a per cent higher.
On the sectoral front, the Nifty Bank was up 0.32 per cent at 46,057.25.
BUZZING STOCKS
Suven Pharmaceuticals shares were up over 4 per cent as Union Cabinet Committee approved the Foreign Direct Investment proposal for the investment of up to Rs 9,589 crore.
JK Tyres stock was up over 2 per cent CARE Ratings Ltd. (CARE) upgraded its long-term issuer rating to CARE A+ from 'CARE A'.
IRCTC shares were up over 2 per cent after a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSTRC) to enable MSRTC's online bus booking services.
Power Finance Corporation shares were up over 1 per cent as the company got shareholders' approval to issue bonus shares by capitalising up to Rs 660.02 crore in its securities premium account.
Tata Steel was up over 1 per cent after reports that the company may close a deal with the United Kingdom government for Port Talbot Future worth Rs 5,180 crore.
CIE Automotive, Varroc Engineering, Samvardhana Motherson, Sandhar Tech, Sona BLW, and Bharat Forge stock traded in green after Tesla said it plans to source components worth $1.7 to $1.9 billion from India.
Bajaj Healthcare shares were up over 4 per cent after getting a clean chit from the US Food and Drugs Administration.
NBCC (India) shares climbed over 10 per cent and SAIL stock climbed over 2 per cent after NBCC bagged a Rs 180 crore order from SAIL for consultancy and project management services.
Bombay Dyeing shares were up over 16 per cent after the company said it would sell 22 acres of land in Worli, Mumbai, for Rs 5,200 crore.
Craftsman Automation shares were up over 3 per cent after reports suggested that BSE 500 may drop Bajaj Electricals and add Craftsman Automation.
BPCL shares were up over 1 per cent after Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for BPCL's Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh today.
CONCOR shares traded 2 per cent higher after Jefferies maintained a 'buy' call on the stock.
Fusion Micro Finance shares were up over 3 per cent after Investec initiated a 'buy'.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stock market rose on Thursday, as traders figured a small upside surprise for US inflation was unlikely to push up interest rates and turned their focus to a European Central Bank meeting later in the session.
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.4 per cent in early trade. Tokyo's Nikkei rose 0.8 per cent to a one-week high.
