SEBI Asks Mutual Funds for Small-Cap Shareholdings Data Amid Liquidity Concerns
SEBI has requested mutual fund houses managing large small-cap funds to share data on their holdings in the total free float of small-cap stocks, indicating concerns over liquidity amid a surge in retail investor inflows. Notably, Tata Mutual Fund and Nippon Mutual Fund had imposed restrictions on lump sum investments in their small-cap schemes last July. SEBI aims to determine the extent of illiquidity in the market and conduct stress tests to evaluate potential risks during market downturns.
