Retail inflation soars to 8-yr high of 7.79 pc in April as food prices spike
Retail inflation hit an eight-year high in April on a year-on-year basis, driven by rising food prices. In April, the consumer price index (CPI) based inflation rate stood at 7.79%. This is the fourth consecutive month that it is above the limit set by the RBI. The retail inflation rate was 6.95% in March 2022 and 4.23% in April 2021.
