Oil rises on risk of broadening Middle East conflict

Oil prices rose on Thursday, extending gains from the previous session, after killing of Hamas leader in Iran raised threat of wider Middle East conflict and concern over its impact on oil. Brent crude futures rose past $81 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained to $78.50 a barrel.
