Union Budget 2023: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present Union Budget for the financial year 2023-24 today i.e. February 1. This will be her fifth straight Union Budget speech. Sithraman, who holds the record for presenting the longest budget in the country, tabled the Economic Survey 2023 in Parliament yesterday. While there are several aspects on which people are expecting some major announcements, the salaried class is hopeful of major relaxations in income tax slabs and deductions from the Finance Minister. Sitharaman's Budget speech will also be tracked closely for key announcements on areas such as railway, defence, education, social welfare, GDP, fiscal deficit, inflation, disinvestment and COVID.

Meanwhile, Economic Survey said that foreign direct investment (FDI) into the country is expected to rebound in the coming months on account of India's high economic growth, and steps to further improve the business environment of India.

The rise in global uncertainty in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, FDI equity inflows in the manufacturing sector in the first half of the current fiscal (April-September) fell below its corresponding level in the first half of 2021-22, the document, which was tabled in Parliament, said.
