Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023, TNPL 2023: Tamil Nadu's premier T20 cricket tournament — Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023 — kicked-off with great pomp-and-show on Monday (June 12). The first match of the seventh edition of the TNPL was played between the Lyca Kovai Kings and Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans at the SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore in which Lyca Kovai Kings won the match by 70 runs. So far six matches have been played in the tournament. The seventh match of the tournament is being played between Ba11sy Trichy and Salem Spartans today (June 18). The eighth match will also be played today between Dindigul Dragons and Siecham Madurai Panthers.

Salem Spartans comfortably cruised against Ba11sy Trichy, as they completed the 140 target run chase in just 15.4 overs and won the match with five wickets to spare. Ba11sy Trichy had a shaky start but was given stability by Mani Bharathy K's 40 runs off 33 balls to put up a fighting score. Abhishek Tanwar had a great spell with the ball for Salem Spartans taking three wickets in four overs and conceding just nine runs in the process. Salem Spartans easily completed the run chase with a brilliant fifty by Kaushik Gandhi M. Tanwar was the Player of the Match.

Match 8: Dindigul Dragons vs Siechem Madurai Panthers

Dindigul Dragons had an easy win against Siechem Madurai Panthers as they chased down 124 runs in just 14.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. Kousik J played a survival knock of 45 runs in 34 balls for Siechem Madurai Panthers. Subodh Bhati had the best figures for Dindigul Dragons as he took three wickets and conceded 19 runs in four overs. After a bad start to the innings, B Indrajith scored 78 runs off 48 giving Dindigul Dragons the edge to win the match. Gurjapneet Singh bowled brilliantly giving just 18 runs in four overs and taking three wickets in the process. Subodh Bhati was the Player of the Match.

Eight teams are participating from around the state in TNPL 2023. They are —

Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023 Format

 

These eight teams will compete in 28 regular-season games and four playoff games.

During the league stages, each team plays the other once in a round-robin system.

The top two finishers in the league will compete in Qualifier 1, with the winner moving directly to the final.

The third and fourth-place teams compete in an Eliminator, and the winner advances to Qualifier 2 against the loser of Qualifier 1.

The winners of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 will face off in the TNPL 2023 final on July 12 at Tirunelveli.
