Can Germany still qualify for Round of 16, after 1-1 draw against Spain? FIFA World Cup 2022 Points Table shows they can
Spain vs Germany, FIFA World Cup 2022: Germany lie at the bottom of the 4-team Group E with just 1 point, after all the teams have played 2 matches each.
Spain vs Germany, FIFA World Cup 2022: What was a 'Super Sunday' of sorts for football fans, turned out to be a tad underwhelming, after Spain and Germany played out a one-one draw.
Alvaro Morata scored for Spain in the 62nd minute; and Germany could only manage an equaliser via Niclas Fullkrug in the 83rd minute.
It was a knock-out of sorts for the German 'die Mannschaft' as they had suffered a shock 2-1 loss in the hands of Japan in their first match of the World Cup. A loss would have sent them packing.
After their draw with Spain, Germany's chances of qualification to the round of 16 look bleak, but not completely finished:

FIFA World Cup 2022: How can Germany qualify for Round of 16?
To qualify, Germany will have to beat Costa Rica, to reach 4 points. And then hope that Spain beat Japan.
In that case Spain will top the table with 7 points and qualify as Qualifier 1.
And Germany will qualify as Qualifier 2 with 4 points.
Costa Rica and Japan will share the third and fourth spot with 3 points each.
EARLIER:
Spain will feel quietly confident with six different goal scorers — Dani Olmo, Marco Asensio, Ferrán Torres, Gavi, Carlos Soler and Morata — on the score-sheet in the 7-0 win against Costa Rica.
On the other hand, Germany will be wary that anything less than a win will leave the door ajar for Japan to sneak through to the knock-out stages.
Spain and Germany belong to the FIFA World Cup 2022 Group E, with the other two teams being Costa Rica and Japan.
