VIDEO - Intruder breaks into Virat Kohli's hotel room, player shares Instagram post highlighting 'invasion of privacy'
Virat Kohli Viral Video: Team India's star batsman Virat Kohli shared a video on Instagram on Monday highlighting the perils of celebritydom and how fans intrude upon the privacy of cricketers. While in Australia for the T20 World Cup 2022, Virat Kohli shared a video purportedly showing a fan entering his hotel room and going through his personal belongings.
While sharing this video on Instagram, Kohli said that such acts make him feel very paranoid about his privacy. In a short message on Instagram, Kohli wrote that he appreciates the fact that Indian cricket fans get very happy and excited upon seeing their favourite players and they are excited to meet the cricketers.
Kohli further wrote that he thinks that the video of the fan going through his personal belongings in his private hotel room is 'appalling' and it has made him very 'paranoid' about his privacy.
Kohli asks that if he cannot have privacy in his own hotel room, then where can he really expect any personal space at all. He said he is not comfortable with such fanaticism and invasion of privacy. "Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment," he further added.
Virat Kohli shared the video of the intruder on Instagram and wrote: "I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy. If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment."
Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have been very particular about their family's personal space, and especially their one-year-old daughter Vamika's privacy. The couple has time and again requested photographers and paparazzi to not click their toddler's photographs.
Virat Kohli has been in fine form at the T20 World Cup in Australia. His two half-centuries - against Pakistan and The Netherlands - have helped Team India secure two victories. Against South Africa on Sunday, Virat Kohli's wicket was scalped by Lungi Ngidi in his fiery first spell which ultimately broke the backbone of Indian top order leading to an eventual loss at Perth.
Meanwhile, agenices reported that Perth's Crown Perth hotel, where the incident happened, has reportedly apologised to Kohli for the alleged breach of the player's privacy by a fan, who took a video of the cricketer's room while he was playing the ICC T20 World Cup Super-12 game against South Africa here on Sunday evening.
