However, the Babar Azam-led team has been stationed in the city of Hyderabad for over 10 days and is expected to be more familiar with the conditions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. They just need their top order to give them a good start, which they have failed at in recent times.

Sri Lanka Squad: Strengths and Weaknesses

Maheesh Theekshana is expected to make his return to the squad for this match, as per Sri Lanka's assistant coach, Naveed Nawaz. This would give the Lankan side a big boost against their subcontinental rivals. Along with youngster Dunith Wellalage, Sri Lanka can cause a lot of trouble in the opposition ranks with their spin attack. Additionally, Hyderabad gives an average spin of 3.4 degrees on its pitch, which is the second-highest across all the venues. This can also play in favour of the Sri Lankan spin attack.

However, their top order has not performed well in the recent matches they played, and it is a real concern for Dasun Shanaka's side. Their middle order has done fairly well, but they do need to have a good start at the top in order to not get under pressure in the early stages of an inning.
