India vs West Indies Live Streaming: 2nd ODI Recap

Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya and with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli not included in the playing eleven, India tried a different game plan in the 2nd ODI, which horribly backfired. 

The West Indies won the toss and chose to field first. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill opened the innings, and they made a steady start to the match. But with the fall of the first wicket, which was Gill, the batting order collapsed like a house of cards.

In the span of 10 overs, India lost five wickets, which put pressure on the lower order, and they too could not do much. India was restricted to 180 all out in 40.5 overs by the West Indies' bowling attack.

Ishan Kishan has been consistent for the Indian squad, as he was the highest scorer for his side in both ODIs. He scored 55 runs in 55 balls, with Gill giving a supporting act of 34 runs in 49 balls.

Due to rain, the match was interrupted when Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja were at the crease with India at 113/5. They added 33 runs to the board to signify a brief revival, but the West Indies regained control, taking the last five wickets for 35 runs. 

The West Indies bowlers had some brilliant spells with the ball. Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd took three wickets each while conceding just 36 runs in 9.5 overs and 37 runs in 8 overs, respectively. Alzarri Joseph was also seen in action with the ball, taking 2 wickets in 7 overs while giving away 35 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav was the only other batter to score more than 20 runs, along with openers Gill and Kishan. The batting collapse showed how vulnerable the Indian side is in the absence of skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli.

West Indies had a decent start, but lost back-to-back wickets of Brandon King and Kyle Mayers. Shardul Thakur tried to make a dent in the Windies' batting attack by taking 3 wickets, but captain Shai Hope, along with Keacy Carty, navigated their way to victory after scoring a brilliant 63 runs off 80 balls and 48 runs off 65 balls, respectively.

The West Indies completed the target of 181 in just 36.4 overs, with 6 wickets still remaining. This was their first victory over India in an ODI since December 2019.
