Sourav Ganguly played a fine hand of 97 off 142 balls, with Rahul Dravid scoring 54 off 74. Lance Klusener picked up three wickets for South Africa. South Africa had a shaky start, losing two early wickets. However, a brilliant 96 off 128 balls by Jacques Kallis and 39 off 31 balls by Jonty Rodes sealed the deal for South Africa, as they won the match by four wickets.

This was the match where Team India registered their first-ever victory against South Africa in the World Cups, and that too by a huge margin. India posted a target of 308 runs in 50 overs, courtesy of a brilliant 137 runs off 146 balls by Shikhar Dhawan and 79 runs off 60 balls by Ajinkya Rahane. South Africa crumbled within 177 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up three wickets, along with Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma picking up two each, as India won the match by 130 runs.

Match 5) 2019, 8th match, ICC Cricket World Cup, Southampton

This was the last encounter between these two teams in the World Cups, where India won the match by six wickets. South Africa set a target of 228 runs in 50 overs, losing nine wickets in the process. Yuzvendra Chahal picked up four wickets, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah picking up two each. India easily reached the target in 47.3 overs, courtesy of a brilliant 122 runs not out off 144 balls by Rohit Sharma, with Hardik Pandya finishing things off by scoring 15 off 7 balls.
