India vs Pakistan ICC WC Match: India and Pakistan's much-awaited ICC World Cup match, which was scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15, is likely to be rescheduled to some other date because of security concerns, said The Indian Express newspaper in an exclusive report on Wednesday.

The report says that the match can be rescheduled as the date clashes with the first day of Navratri, the dance festival which is celebrated with gusto in Gujarat.

The report says the security agencies have raised concerns since the streets in Ahmedabad during Navratri are full of people.

The security agencies have advised the Board of Control for Cricket in India to reschedule the match to some another date, says the report.

"We are mulling over the options that we have, and a decision will be taken soon. We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri, the Indian Express quoted a source as saying.

The report further said that BCCI secretary Jay Shah has asked the members of all the hosting venues to gather in New Delhi on July 27 for a meeting to discuss the issue, and a decision regarding the new venue can be taken there.

If the match is rescheduled to some other date or if the BCCI changes the venue of the match, it will turn out to be a huge logistical nightmare for thousands of fans who have booked their tickets to Ahmedabad to watch the high-octane encounter.

Not just the room rents at hotels reached sky-high for the match day but also a lot of fans from overseas booked hotel beds in Ahmedabad to make sure that they stay in the city to watch the match.

India and Pakistan are also scheduled to play an Asia Cup match in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on September 2.

However, it is yet to be undecided if the two team will play the match.
