Bangladesh played its first match against Pakistan last Wednesday, September 6, in Lahore. Pakistan had a comfortable win as they bowled out the Bangladeshi side in 38.4 overs, with Bangladesh putting up a target of 194. Half-centuries by captain Shakib Al Hasan and keeper Mushfiqur Rahim helped the cause but the Bangla Tigers were no match against the Pakistani pacers.

Haris Rauf picked up four wickets, with Naseem Shah getting three. Pakistan easily chased down the target in 39.3 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Imam-ul-Haq struck 78 (84) and Mohammad Rizwan played a brilliant knock of 63* (79), to get Pakistan across the finish line.

In their second Super 4 match against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh managed to come close to winning the match courtesy of a brilliant 82 off 97 balls by Towhid Hridoy, but were ultimately bowled out in 48.1 overs. Sri Lanka won the match by 21 runs.

Already through to the Asia Cup finals, Team India will likely test their bench strength. The batters and bowlers have all contributed to Team India's wins so far. Against Pakistan, skipper Rohit Sharma and youngster Shubman Gill gave a solid 121-run start to the team, after which Virat Kohli and KL Rahul struck centuries to take Team India to a match-winning total of 356 runs. India bowled Pakistan out in 32 overs, winning the match by 228 runs and registering their highest win against them in ODIs.

Team India did fumble a little when Sri Lankan spinners spun a web on the turning track in Colombo. However, Kuldeep Yadav scalped 4 wickets as Team India managed to win the match by 41 runs, becoming the first team to qualify for the Asia Cup 2023 Final.
