IND vs AUS ODI Series: After a dominating win in the Asia Cup 2023 final, Team India will be returning to their home turf, where they will face Australia in a three-match ODI series. The India vs Australia ODI series matches will start on Friday, September 22 at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
India beat Sri Lanka in one of the most dominating fashions in the Asia Cup final. The Indian side bowled out the Sri Lankan squad in just 15.2 overs, fetching a target of 51 runs to chase. Pacer Mohammed Siraj single-handedly decimated Sri Lankan batting , picking up six wickets in seven overs. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya also managed to pick up three, with Jasprit Bumrah picking one.
India finished up the match in 6.1 overs, with youngsters Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill winning the match by 10 wickets.
On the other hand, Australia will be coming after a bittersweet series tour in South Africa. The Aussies whitewashed the South African side in a three-match T20 series. However, in the five-match ODI series, they lost the series by 3-2 after leading by 2-0 after the first two matches. South Africa managed to hold on to their nerves and turned the tide winning the next three matches.
Both India and Australia are two of the best teams in the cricket world at the moment and this three-match ODI series will provide a good training ground for both teams ahead of the World Cup.
It is expected that all three matches will be high-scoring as the average first innings scores in ODIs at Mohali, Indore, and Rajkot since 2011 are 309, 312, and 336, respectively. It is to be played as a precursor to the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which is going to start on October 5 here in India.
