BCCI's senior selection committee, under the chairmanship of Ajit Agarkar and in the presence of Secretary Jay Shah, announced the team on Tuesday, April 30, just one day prior to the deadline day for the squad announcement.

As expected, Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian squad, with Hardik Pandya named as his deputy despite his underwhelming performance in this IPL. Rishabh Pant has been named in the squad as the first-choice wicketkeeper and is set to make his international comeback in the World Cup.

Yuzvendra Chahal has also been included after his stellar performance in the IPL and will be playing in his maiden T20 World Cup. Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Arshdeep Singh also got their maiden call-ups for the T20 World Cup.
