ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023: With the Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 just around the corner, the International Council of Cricket (ICC) has officially revealed the prize money for the tournament, which will be taking place in India.

The ICC made this announcement in an official statement on Friday, September 22. An overall pot of USD 10 million has been announced by the cricket governing body for the tournament. Each team that takes part in the event will get a share, even if they do not manage to win a single match.

Moreover, the teams will get an incentive of USD 40,000 (approximately Rs 33 lakh) for winning a match in the group stage. Ten teams will be participating in the tournament in a round-robin format. The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, and the six teams that get eliminated in the group stage will receive USD 100,000 each (approximately Rs 82 lakh).

The losing teams in the semifinals will get USD 800,000 each (approximately Rs 6 crore), and the runner-up in the final, which will be played on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will get USD 2,000,000 (approximately Rs 16 crore).

Ultimately, the winner of the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 will get a whopping USD 4,000,000 (approximately Rs 33 crore) along with the coveted World Cup trophy.

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will commence on October 5, with the opening match set to be played between New Zealand and defending champions England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The competition will consist of 48 matches — 45 in the group stage and three in the knockout stage — played across 10 venues. 

This, the 13th edition of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup, will feature 10 teams — 

  • Afghanistan
  •  Australia
  •  Bangladesh
  •  England
  • India
  •  New Zealand
  •  Pakistan
  •  South Africa
  •  Sri Lanka
  • The Netherlands.

Before the main event, each team will play two warm-up matches to get into the groove for the 46-day-long tournament.
