The 11-day Commonwealth Games 2022 event will be wrapped up at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium on August 9, 2022, at 12.30 am (IST). Apache Indian, Beverley Knight, Dexys Midnight Runners, Goldie, Jacob Banks, Jaykae and Jorja Smith. Laura Mvula, Ash, Mahalia and Musical Youth will also be performing, along with Neelam Gill, Panjabi MC, Talulah-Eve, The Selecter and UB40 are some of the notable performers during the Commonwealth Games 2022 closing ceremony. 

The Commonwealth Games 2022 closing ceremony will feature a sequence from the theatre show Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby, anchored by British singer Laura Mvula. The closing ceremony, which will take place in front of a live audience of 30,000, will include a formal handover to the state of Victoria, Australia, which will host the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, India's badminton ace PV Sindhu won her maiden singles gold at the Commonwealth Games defeating Michelle Li of Canada 21-15, 21-13 on the last day of the quadrennial event in Birmingham on Monday. The 27-year-old two-time Olympic medallist Sindhu, who was unsuccessful in the previous two attempts, settling for silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast and bronze at the 2014 Glasgow Games, finally broke the jinx with a commanding performance against an opponent ranked 13th in the world.
