Asia Cup 2023: After discussions between the chairman of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, India's head coach, Rahul Dravid, and captain Rohit Sharma, the BCCI announced the squad in an X post.
Asia Cup 2023: With the Asia Cup set to begin on August 30 in Pakistan, four of the six participating teams have already announced their squads for the tournament. Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh had already announced their squads, and on Monday, August 21, Team India also announced its 17-man squad, which will be travelling across Sri Lanka and Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

The team consists of Hardik Pandya as vice captain. Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna made the squad. Sanju Samson has also been selected as the travelling standby player.
Despite speculations about the fitness of the duo, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have both been selected for the team. Tilak Varma gets his maiden call-up for the one-day format.
Pacers Bumrah and Krishna have also been included in the squad. After their hiatus due to injuries, both made their comebacks for India in the ongoing T20I series against Ireland.
India, Pakistan, and Nepal are in Group A, while Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka are in Group B.
After the group stages, the top two teams from each group will play each other in the Super 4s. The top two teams after the Super 4s will play each other in the final.
India will open the campaign against Pakistan on Saturday, September 2, in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The tournament will start with Pakistan playing Nepal on August 30 at Multan.

According to a press release issued by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Pakistan would remain A1, and India will remain A2, regardless of their positions after the group stage. If either of them fails to qualify, Nepal will take their place.
Similarly, in Group B, Sri Lanka will remain first and Bangladesh second. If either of the teams fails to make the Super 4s, Afghanistan will take their place.
