Asia Cup 2022: India suffered a second consecutive loss against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 match, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Sri Lanka beat India by six wickets leaving the Men in Blue tottering on the brink of elimination.

After the loss against Sri Lanka yesterday, the Indian Cricket team will now have to rely on other teams to make it to the final of the Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka top the Asia Cup points table with 4 points after winning both their matches.

Pakistan lie on the second spot with 2 points after beating India on Sunday.

India and Afghanistan have 0 points each, and even though India have lost 2 games (as compared to Afghanistan's 1 played - 1 lost), Men in Blue are still on the third pedestal thanks to a marginally better net run-rate (NRR). Afghanistan currently lie fourth on the points table. 

And it's the net run-rate which will be in focus from this stage onwards. Here's why:

Asia Cup 2022: India Chances

Simply put, India will be officially out of the tournament if Pakistan beat Afghanistan on Wednesday.

After beating Afghanistan, this was the second win for Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage and they are all but through to the Asia Cup final.

India's road to the Asia Cup 2022 final depends on Pakistan’s results in its remaining Super 4 matches against Afghanistan on Wednesday and Sri Lanka on Friday.

Pakistan's defeat in both matches and India's win against Afghanistan by a big margin on Thursday can bring India back into the game. The NRR knockout between India, Afghanistan and Pakistan will play a key role even if all the other results go in India’s favour.
