MS Dhoni completes 5000 IPL runs: Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni had a short-and-sweet innings against Lucknow Super Giants in Chennai on Monday, but with the 3-ball 12-run innings, Dhoni joined the illustrious 5000-run club in the Indian Premier League.

He smashed back-to-back sixes on Mark Wood, and with his second six, he crossed the 5000-run mark.

He now has 5,004 in 208 innings of 236 matches with 24 half-centuries. He has a strike rate of 135.54 and an average of 39.09. 

Ex-India skipper, Dhoni, thus, became only the seventh player to acheive the feat of scoring 5,000 runs. Let's have a look at who else is in the prestigious 5,000-run club.

Other players with 5,000 IPL runs 

Virat Kohli

Royal Challengers Bangalore stalwart Virat Kohli is the highest run-getter in the IPL. He has 6,706 runs in 216 innings of 224 matches with five centuries and 45 fifties.

He has an average of 36.64 and a strike rate of 129.51.

Shikhar Dhawan

The second name on the list is Punjab Kings' newly appointed captain Shikhar Dhawan.

Dhawan has 6,284 runs in 206 innings of 207 matches in the tournament.

He has two centuries and fifties to his name with an average of 35.11 and a strike rate of 126.41.

David Warner

Delhi Capitals skipper and Australian ace David Warner is the third-highest run scorer in the IPL.

He has scored 5,937 runs in 163 innings of 163 matches.

He has four centuries and 55 fifties to his credit at an average of 42.11 and a strike rate of 140.42.

Rohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is also a member of the prestigious club.

He has 5,880 runs to his name in 223 innings of 228 matches.

He has one century and 40 fifties and has scored his runs with an average of 30.15 and a strike rate of 129.63.

Suresh Raina

Raina has retired from cricket, but he was an important part of CSK in his playing days.

The ex-India player scored 5,528 runs in 200 innings of 205 matches with a century and 39 fifties.

He has an average of 32.52 and a strike rate of 136.76. 

Ab de Villiers

The South African ace played for RCB for 10 years and scored most of his IPL runs for the same team.

Now, a part of RCB's Hall of Fame, de Villiers scored 5,162 runs in 170 innings of 184 matches.

He scored three centuries and 40 fifties during his playing days in the IPL. He has an average of 39.70 and a strike rate of 151.68. 

Apart from them, Chris Gayle has also scored 4,965 runs in the IPL, but he has not been part of any team for last two years, and the chances of him joining the 5,000-run club are faint.

Former CSK player Robin Uthappa also has 4,952 runs in 197 innings of 205 matches, but he has also retired from cricket.
