However, the highlight of the IPL Auction 2024 were Aussie quicks. Australian skipper Pat Cummins was bought by SunRisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.50 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history (albeit, for a few minutes), until his compatriot Mitchell Starc was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore, breaking the record for the most expensive player.

CSK did manage to get some big names at big prices, with the likes of Daryl Mitchell brought in for a whopping Rs 14 crore and home-grown all-rounder Shardul Thakur for Rs 4 crore. They spent big bucks on rookie Sameer Rizvi  -- Rs 8.4 crore to be precise. But the bargain by far, was the find of the World Cup – Rachin Ravindra — the spin-all-rounder was bought by CSK for just Rs 1.8 crore. CSK has brought in two Indian players and two foreign players and filled 23 of the slots available to them.

The Chennai Super Kings squad looks quite strong so far, and it will be quite interesting to see how they line up for IPL 2024. CSK will be captained by the veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and they have Stephen Fleming as their head coach.
