Karnataka Election Result 2023: What happens in case of a hung Assembly?
As per reports, both the BJP and the Congress have begun reaching out to winnable independent candidates and comparitively smaller parties who contested the May 10 Assembly elections on their own.
IANS reports that Congress has made contact with SI Chikkanagoudar of Kundgol seat in Dharwad district, who is reportedly in a close contest with MR Patil — the BJP candidate there. The report says that Chikkanagoudar is close to former chief minister Jagadish Shettar who skipped boats to join the Congress from the BJP, and the party has sent out feelers to him.
The two parties have also reportedly approached MP Latha Mallikarjun — an independent candidate from Bellary district's Harapanahalli seat. She is the daughter of late Congress leader MP Prakash who was denied ticket by the Congress. BJP's Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has reportedly spoken to her and the Congress have also tried to make amends.
