Tripura Assembly Election Result 2023 News: Assembly elections were conducted in the northeast state of Tripura on February 16. Polling across 60 Assembly seats took place in single phase and was largely peaceful. According to the Election Commission, the state recorded a voter turnout of nearly 88 per cent. Out of 28.14 lakh voters, around 24.66 lakh voters exercised their franchise. Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland are the first among the nine states going to polls this year.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contested 55 of the 60 seats, while its ally, the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), ran candidates in six. The Left Front, which was defeated by the BJP-IPFT coalition in 2018 after a 20-year reign, is contesting 47 seats. For the first time in the state, Congress has allied with the Left and fielded candidates in 13 seats.

The vote counting for Tripura election will be conducted on March 2 along with Meghalaya and Nagaland.

According to most exit polls, BJP is expected to win 29-36 seats in Tripura, far ahead of the rival alliance of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and Congress, according to Zee News-Matrize exit poll results. The coalition of the CPM and Congress is expected to win 13 to 21 seats.

The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) led by Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma, is likely to win 11-16 seats, while others and independents may bag 0-3 seats, the Zee News-Matrize exit poll showed.

According to Axis My India exit poll results, the BJP alliance is expected to win 36 seats in Tripura, while the Left Front is expected to win only 6-11. The poll suggested that Congress may not even open an account in the state.
