The by-election to the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat is taking place due to the death of Samajwadi Party (SP) founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. There are six candidates in the fray in Mainpuri.

Mainpuri bypoll Samajwadi Party candidate 

Mulayam Singh Yadav's elder daughter-in-law and SP president Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav is contesting from this seat. 

Mainpuri bypoll BJP candidate 

The BJP named Raghuraj Singh Shakya, a former MP, as its candidate for the Lok Sabha bypoll to Mainpuri against Samajwadi Party's Dimple Yadav. The BJP candidate, who was once a close associate of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party chief and Akhilesh Yadav's uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav, joined the saffron party ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls held earlier this year.

The counting of votes will take place on December 8.

Mainpuri Exit Poll 2022 Result

The Election Commission of India has banned the exit polls before the completion of the polling exercise. As per the rule, the exit poll will be aired on TV channels only after the polling exercise ends. Accordingly, TV channels will telecast the Mainpuri Exit polls on December 5 evening after the second phase of polling ends in Gujarat. The result of exit polls will also be announced for both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat on December 8, 2022.
