General Elections 2024 Schedule Announcement: The Election Commission on Friday, March 15, said that it would announce the schedule for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and state assemblies the next day, March 16. The announcement will be made through a press conference and will be live-streamed on the ECI's social media platforms at 3 pm. The poll panel took to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) to make the announcement.

According to the ECI, the announcement of the schedule of general and state assembly elections will be live-streamed online on its official YouTube channel. It can also be watched on the ECI's official social media handles.
The ECI has been preparing for the election process for the last few months.
In a separate development, the Election Commission also uploaded electoral bonds data as shared by the State Bank of India (SBI) on its website on Thursday.
As per the data, the buyers of electoral bonds include Grasim Industries, Megha Engineering, Piramal Enterprises, Torrent Power, Bharti Airtel, DLF Commercial Developers, Vedanta Ltd., Apollo Tyres, Lakshmi Mittal, Edelweiss, PVR, Keventer, Sula Wine, Welspun, and Sun Pharma.
With the country all set to go into polls around April-May, all political parties have started their campaigning for the mega event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is aiming to win power for a third consecutive term, after staging landslide victories in 2014 and 2019.
Both the BJP and the Congress have so far released two lists of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls.
