Lok Sabha Elections 2024: For the parliamentary elections, the Election Commission of India has granted voters above the age of 85 and people with disabilities of more than 40 per cent the opportunity to vote from home. The collection of ballots from homes in the Puducherry, Mahe, and Yanam regions was already started on April 2 and will continue till April 6. Ballot collections took place in the Karaikal area from April 4 to April 6.
In all, 2878 voters from these two groups applied for home voting in the Union Territory. Only 45 service members have chosen to vote at the facilitation center before the voting day.
Today, April 5, EC provided 12 seats for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan. According to election authorities, 36,558 voters chose home voting in the first round for 12 seats, including Jaipur, Sikar, Ganganagar, and Bikaner, including 27,524 senior persons and 9,306 people with disabilities (PwDs).

Citizens aged 85 and up, as well as those with impairments, can use postal ballots to vote from home, according to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, who announced the Lok Sabha election schedule.
General Elections 2024: The process to apply for vote-from-home facility
To opt for this facility, voters will have to fill out Form 1D by downloading the form from the official website of the Election Commission at www.eci.gov.in. They must also notify the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) that they may be unable to reach the polling booth to vote. Form 12D distribution has already started in a few places.
People can also get this form at the office of a Lok Sabha constituency's representative district officer. Following that, polling officials, together with a cameraman and a security guard, would pay a visit to the eligible voter's residence to supervise the postal ballot voting procedure. Meanwhile, the voter will be notified about the day and time of the visit via SMS or mailing.
