Karnataka Election 2023 BJP Candidate List: BY Vijayendra, son of former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader BS Yediyurappa, to contest from his father's Shikaripura seat.
Karnataka Election 2023: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the first list of its candidates for upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections 2023 - which are scheduled for May 10.
As per party's general secretary Arun Singh, 52 new faces, and eight women have been included in BJP's first list of 189 candidates for Karnataka Assembly Polls.
In terms of candidates, he informed that the BJP has chosen to field 32 OBC candidates, 30 Scheduled Castes, 16 Scheduled Tribes in its list of 189 names for Karnataka polls.

*Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to contest from Shiggaon constituency
* BY Vijayendra, son of former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader BS Yediyurappa, to contest from his father's Shikaripura seat.
* State Minister B Sriramulu to contest from Bellary Rural seat
* BJP national general secretary C T Ravi to contest from his traditional Chikmagalur seat
* State Health Minister Dr Sudhakar K to contest from Chikkaballapur seat.
* State Minister Dr Ashwathnarayan CN to contest from Malleshwaram seat.
*State Minister R Ashoka to contest from 2 seats - Padmanabhanagar and from Kanakapura against state Congress chief D K Shivakumar .
*V Somanna to contest from Varuna seat against Congress leader Siddaramaiah, and on second seat from Chamarajanagar.
*Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra to contest from Tirthahalli constituency

Karnataka Election 2023: Senior BJP leader Eshwarappa quits electoral politics
Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and BJP's old guard in the state, KS Eshwarappa, announced his retirement from active politics. He wrote to BJP President JP Nadda to communicate his decision to quit electoral politics, barely weeks ahead of the May 10 Assembly elections in Karnataka.
In the letter penned in Kannada, he wrote: "I am withdrawing from electoral politics. I have been given a lot of responsibilities by the party over the last 40 years. From booth in-charge, I went on to become the chief of Karnataka BJP. I also had the honour to become the Deputy Chief Minister of the state."
