Electors concluded casting their ballots peacefully amid tight security arrangements in the Jharkhand state election on Wednesday, November. A total voter turnout of 67.59 per cent was recorded in Jharkhand, as of 5 pm, as electors in the state exercised their right to select a new administration in the state. Thirty eight of Jharkhand's Assembly seats went into polls in the second and final phase of voting on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, voting commenced at 7 am and was peaceful and orderly, according to an official statement.

Electors showed up in large numbers across the 38 Assembly seats spread across 12 districts in Jharkhand. 

The ECI, whose primary function is to administer and conduct fair elections across the country, had made concerted efforts to expand the participation amongst tribal voters.

"Accordingly, right from enrolment to polling booths, a conducive and welcoming atmosphere encouraged tribal voters to show up at the polling booths. 48 Unique Polling Stations had been set up for Phase-II which were adorned by themes reflecting tribal culture and elements. Ahead of the elections, 100 per cent enrolment of the 1.78 lakhs members from 8 PVTGs in the state was ensured in the electoral roll," the ECI said. 

Turnout figures will be further updated at around 11:45 pm, it added.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, had been monitoring the poll process closely.

The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on November 23, according to the ECI.

Bye-polls

Bye-polls in 15 Assembly Constituencies and one Parliamentary Constituency in 15 states were also held on the same day.

With this, elections concluded for Jharkhand and Maharashtra legislative assemblies and bye-polls in 48 Assembly and two parliamentary seats in 15 states across the two phases.
