The Centre-ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in the national capital. In the 2025 Delhi Assembly polls, the BJP is hopeful of a comeback after more than 25 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party will be contesting against the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) in the Union Territory.

The BJP's first list of candidates comprises 29 candidates, including former MP Parvesh Verma (son of ex-Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma) and former MP Ramesh Bidhuri. While Verma will be contesting against former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi, Bidhuri will be running against Chief Minister Atishi from Kalkaji.

Other prominent faces in the BJP's list of candidates includes Dushyant Kumar Gautam, Ashish Sood, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Kailash Gahlot and Satish Upadhyay.

Battle for 70 Delhi Assembly seats

The Delhi Legislative Assembly comprises 70 seats.

In the 2020 Assembly polls in the national capital, the Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party secured a clear majority with 62 out of the 70 seats.
